The details

How it works

This is the lyrics path of add vocals to a beat, used for a demo. Lyro sends your beat and your words to a vocal model made for this job. It listens to the beat itself, not only to its tempo and key, sings on its grid and returns the voice alone. Your beat file is never rewritten: the vocal comes back as its own track and meets the beat only in the studio, where you set the balance.

WAV, MP3 and M4A files go to that vocal model, and FLAC and OGG are turned into WAV in your browser first so they do too. If it is busy for more than two minutes, or a job fails there, Lyro moves the job to a second path by itself, at no extra cost: Lyro High sings your words in a full song at your beat’s tempo and key, and stem separation keeps only the vocal. Turkish lyrics always take the second path. A vocal from the second path is in tempo but did not hear where your first bar starts, so you slide it into place in the studio.

Tips for a demo that shows off the beat

Take the tag out first. The vocal model hears the whole file, producer tag and voice tag included. Upload the untagged version, and add the tag back in the studio, on its own track, if you want it on the demo you post.
Keep the clean instrumental for buyers. The demo vocal never touches your beat file. What you deliver after a sale is the untagged instrumental you already have, with no vocal on it; the demo is a separate mix you export from the studio.
A hook-only demo. If a hook is all you want to show, export the part of the beat where it goes, up to a minute, from your music software and upload that. It is the cheapest job on this page.
Give it enough words. With only about four lines, the model adds lines of its own. Write the hook out each time it repeats, add a short verse, or trim the extra lines in the studio.
Pick a voice for the lane. Choose a soulful, soft or powerful female voice, a deep, smooth or gritty male voice, rap or a duet, and describe the delivery in a line, such as “breathy R&B lead, sparse hook”. You cannot name a real artist.
Make two or three takes. Each run is different and each one costs credits, so plan on choosing between a few.

What you get back

The vocal on its own track, in the studio beside your beat. There you can move, trim, split and duplicate clips on the beat grid, set the balance, add reverb to the vocal and master to a loudness target, then export the demo mix as WAV. You can also download the vocal on its own for your own session. The studio uses no credits, and downloads are never counted or capped.

Rights, and being straight with buyers

Say the demo vocal is AI-made. Put it in the listing or in the message you send with the demo. Every download from Lyro carries an ID3 tag declaring it AI-generated, and our acceptable use policy asks you to keep that tag and not to say a fully AI-generated track was made without AI when a platform, a distributor, a client or the law asks.

Your beat, your licence. Lyro claims no rights in the beat you upload, and the licence a buyer gets for your beat, a lease or an exclusive, is yours to write, as it always was. Lyro’s commercial licence, included in every paid plan, is granted to you and covers what Lyro generates for you: here, the demo vocal. We do not promise that AI-generated audio is exclusive or protected by copyright, so do not sell the demo vocal as either. If a buyer wants to keep the AI hook in a release, tell them before the sale what it is.

Rights to what is in the beat. Only upload beats you made or have permission to use, including any samples or loops in them. Stores and distributors each have their own rules about AI audio, so check your store’s rules before you list a beat with an AI demo on it. See music rights.

Where the limits are

The model writes its own melody for your words. You steer it with the lyrics, the voice type and a line of style, not note by note. If you already hear the exact hook, sing a rough take yourself and bring it into the studio.
A word can land slightly early or late. Split that phrase in the studio and move it on the grid. See AI vocals off beat?
On the second path the vocal comes from stem separation, so it can carry faint traces of the music it was sung over.
Tempo and key are read in your browser and are estimates. The second path relies on them, so check for a half or double tempo, or a relative key, before you generate.
AI vocals can mispronounce words, especially names and slang. Respell a word the way it sounds and generate again.
Lyro has no voice cloning. You choose a voice type, not a singer, so the voice differs from one demo to the next.
