How much AI music is being made

More than half of the new music delivered to Deezer is now fully AI-generated. Deezer counts about 90,000 such tracks a day, a figure it reported on 21 Jul 2026 (Deezer, 21 Jul 2026). In its November 2025 report the figure was 50,000 a day, or 34% of deliveries (Deezer and Ipsos, 12 Nov 2025).

The tools are growing too. Suno reported 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue, the yearly value of its current subscriptions (TechCrunch, 27 Feb 2026). We found no comparable counts from other services, so treat Deezer as one measured platform, not the whole market.

How much of it gets played

Very little. On Deezer, AI music is 1 to 3% of streams although it is more than half of uploads, and up to 85% of the streams on fully AI-generated tracks were flagged as fraudulent (Deezer, 21 Jul 2026). A stream is one play of a track.

The largest single case so far sits outside the global top 200. “Papaoutai (Afro Soul)” had 210.7 million streams in the first half of 2026 and ranked 282nd globally, the highest-ranking AI-assisted track in the report. Luminate’s own conclusion is cautious:

“individual AI-generated tracks have yet to make a profound, long-term impact on consumption behavior.”

What listeners can tell and what they want

Most listeners cannot hear the difference, and most want to be told. In a Deezer and Ipsos survey of 9,000 people in 8 countries, 97% could not tell fully AI-generated music from human-made music, and 80% wanted AI music to be clearly labelled (Deezer and Ipsos, 12 Nov 2025).

The Velvet Sundown is the best-known case. It passed 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and only then, on 3 Jul 2025, confirmed that it is a synthetic music project made with the support of artificial intelligence (Berklee, 22 Jul 2025).

What the numbers mean if you make music

Making a track is no longer the hard part. Getting a real person to play it twice is. Four practical readings:

Volume is not a plan. About 90,000 AI tracks a day share 1 to 3% of streams on Deezer. One track people replay matters more than many uploads.
Label your work. 80% of surveyed listeners want labels, and EU transparency rules apply. See Can you monetise AI music?
Never buy streams. With up to 85% of streams on fully AI tracks flagged as fraudulent, bought plays are likely to be flagged too.
Check what you can take away. Suno limits downloads by plan from 3 Sep 2026 and Udio has disabled them, so read a tool’s download rules first.
