Acceptable use policy

Make your own music and be honest about how it was made. Do not imitate real people without their consent, do not upload what is not yours, do not make illegal or deceptive audio, do not game streaming platforms, do not strip the AI labels, and do not open extra accounts or abuse the invite programme to collect credits. If you break these rules, we can remove tracks and close accounts.

This summary is a guide and is not legally binding wording. The policy below is part of the terms.

1. About this policy

This policy is part of the terms of service. It covers everything you do with Lyro: what you upload, what you type, what you generate, what you share and how you use the service.

It also passes on rules that our model providers set for us. You must follow the fal.ai acceptable use policy and Google's generative AI prohibited use policy as well.

2. Voices and identities

A real person's voice, name and identity are off limits unless that person has agreed.

  • Do not clone, imitate or impersonate the voice of a real person, living or dead, without their documented consent. Keep the consent in writing and show it to us if we ask.
  • Do not upload a recording of another person's voice unless that person has agreed to this use.
  • Do not name a real artist, band or song as a style target, and never pass a track off as theirs or as connected with them. Describe the sound instead: the genre, tempo, instruments and mood.
  • Do not present a track as made by, featuring or endorsed by a real artist when it is not.

3. Other people's music and words

Bring only material that is yours or that you have permission to use.

  • Do not upload audio unless you own it or have permission for both the recording and the song. That rules out vocals and instrumentals taken from released tracks, and samples or loops whose licence does not allow this use.
  • Do not paste in lyrics that someone else wrote, or close copies of them, without permission.
  • Do not use Lyro to recreate a specific existing song.

4. Illegal and harmful content

Do not make, upload or share:

  • child sexual abuse material, or any sexual content that involves minors or people presented as minors;
  • content that promotes or supports terrorism or violent extremism, or that incites violence;
  • hate speech, meaning content that attacks people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age;
  • harassment, threats or bullying aimed at any person;
  • intimate or sexual content about a real person without their consent;
  • anything else that is illegal in the UK or where you live, including content that helps someone commit a crime.

We report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities and close the account.

5. Deception and misinformation

Do not use Lyro to make people believe something false.

  • Do not make deceptive deepfakes, meaning audio that a listener would take as a real person saying or singing something they did not.
  • Do not make audio designed to mislead voters, such as fake statements by candidates or officials, or false information about how, when or where to vote.
  • Do not make false or misleading health or medical claims in audio.
  • Do not use Lyro for fraud, scams or phishing.

6. Streaming platforms

Do not use Lyro to cheat streaming services or to flood them.

  • No streaming fraud. Do not use bots, click farms, paid plays or any other artificial means to inflate the streams of tracks made with Lyro.
  • No bulk spam uploads. Do not flood streaming services or stores with large numbers of near-identical or low-effort tracks, tracks under misleading artist names, or tracks titled to catch searches for another artist.
  • Follow the rules of the distributor and the platform you use, including their rules on disclosing AI.

Platforms watch for this. Deezer reported that up to 85% of streams on fully AI-generated tracks were flagged as fraudulent (Deezer, 21 Jul 2026).

7. Labels, watermarks and disclosure

Your tracks are marked as AI-generated, and the marks must stay.

  • Do not remove, alter, mask or try to defeat the SynthID watermark in Lyria output or the AI-generated tag in downloaded files, and do not use a tool or another person to do it for you.
  • Do not say that a fully AI-generated track was made without AI when a platform, a distributor, a client or the law asks.

8. The service itself

Use Lyro through the studio, as one person, within your plan.

  • No scraping or bulk downloading of the studio, share pages or audio files, and no automated access to the studio without our written permission. Search engines and AI crawlers are welcome on our public pages, within the rules in our robots.txt file.
  • No reselling or sharing of access. An account is for one person. Do not resell credits or build a competing service on top of Lyro.
  • No getting round credit costs, rate limits, plan limits or the paywall, including by opening several accounts or by abusing refunds and chargebacks.
  • No farming of credits or offers. One person, one account. Do not open several accounts to collect invite rewards, bonus credits, cancellation offers or anything else that is meant to be given once.
  • No abuse of the invite programme. Do not invite yourself, do not use fake or duplicate accounts to collect rewards, and do not post your invite link as spam or as advertising that hides what it is.
  • No automated sign-ups. Do not create accounts with scripts or bots, do not sign up with throwaway email addresses, and do not try to get round the checks that protect sign-up and sign-in.
  • No attempts to get round the safety filters of the models.
  • No security testing without our written permission. That means no probing, scanning or load testing. If you have found a vulnerability, tell us through the contact page and give us time to fix it before you tell anyone else.
  • No malware, and nothing that disrupts the service for other people.

9. What we do when the rules are broken

We act in proportion to the problem. We may:

  • refuse a generation, or remove a track or an upload;
  • switch off a share link;
  • withhold an invite reward, or refuse an offer that was claimed more than once;
  • suspend an account while we look into a report;
  • close an account, in serious or repeated cases;
  • report illegal content to the authorities and cooperate with lawful requests.

Our model providers run their own safety filters and may refuse a request. Credits spent on content that breaks this policy are not refunded, except where the law requires it.

If we remove your track or restrict your account and you think we got it wrong, reply to our message or contact us. A person will review the decision.

10. How to report a problem

You do not need an account to report a track. Every share page has a "Report this track" control. Choose a reason (copyright, impersonation, illegal content, hate or other), add details, and leave an email address if you want a reply.
