Copyright and takedowns

Last updated 21 September 2026

If a track on Lyro uses your work or imitates your voice without permission, tell us and we will act promptly. Send a notice with the details listed below, or use the "Report this track" control on the share page. Users can answer with a counter-notice, and we close the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.

This summary is a guide and is not legally binding wording.

1. Our position

We respect the rights of songwriters, performers, producers and labels, and we require our users to do the same. Under the acceptable use policy, users may upload only material they have the rights to, and they may not imitate real artists.

Lyro hosts the tracks that users store and share. When we learn that a track infringes someone's rights, we remove it or switch off access to it promptly.

Lyro is operated by RNIFY Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 16749515, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

2. How to send a notice

Send your notice through the contact form or hello@lyromusic.com. You can also write to RNIFY Limited at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, but post is slower. Include:

  1. your name, the name of the rights holder if you act for someone else, an email address, and a postal address or phone number;
  2. the work you say has been infringed: its title, its writer or artist, and a link or a catalogue identifier if you have one;
  3. the track on Lyro: the full web address of the share page, or another description that lets us find it;
  4. what has been copied, such as the recording, the melody, the lyrics or a sample, and where in the track it appears if you can say;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law;
  6. a statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them;
  7. your signature. A typed full name is enough.

The "Report this track" control on every share page is a quick way to flag a track. Choose "Copyright". We may write back to ask for the details above before we act.

3. What we do with a notice

We review it promptly and, if it is complete and credible, we take the track down.

  • A person reads every notice.
  • If the notice is complete and credible, we switch off the share link, and we may remove the track or the upload from the user's account.
  • We tell the user what we did and why, and we give them a copy of the notice with your postal address and phone number removed.
  • If something is missing, we ask you for it. If a notice is clearly unfounded, we may decline to act and tell you why.
  • We keep a record of notices so that we can apply section 5.

4. Counter-notice

If we removed your track and you believe that was a mistake, or you hold the rights, you can send a counter-notice to the same contact. Include:

  1. your name, the email address on your Lyro account and a postal address;
  2. the track that was removed and where it appeared;
  3. a statement that you believe in good faith that the track was removed by mistake or misidentification, with your reasons, for example that you wrote and recorded the material yourself or that you hold a licence;
  4. a statement that we may pass your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the person who complained;
  5. your signature. A typed full name is enough.

We pass the counter-notice to the person who complained. If they do not tell us within 10 working days that they have started legal action, we may restore the track. We do not have to restore a track that we believe still breaks our terms.

5. Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of users who infringe repeatedly. We count valid notices against an account. A notice that is withdrawn or successfully countered does not count. One serious case can be enough, for example uploading a commercial release in order to share it or pass it off as your own.

6. Voice, likeness and impersonation complaints

You do not need to own a copyright to complain about a track that imitates your voice, uses your name or presents itself as yours. Our acceptable use policy bans all three.

Tell us who you are, give the address of the share page, and explain why you believe the track imitates or impersonates you. If you act for an artist, for example as a manager, a label or an estate, say so. You can use the "Report this track" control and choose "Impersonation", or contact us through the contact form or hello@lyromusic.com.

We treat these complaints as a priority and may switch off the link while we look into it. We may ask for evidence of identity or authority, so that the process cannot be used against the real artist.

7. Notices in DMCA format

Lyro is operated from the UK, and UK law governs how we handle notices. We also honour notices written in the format of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. section 512(c)(3), and counter-notices in the format of section 512(g)(3). We handle them as described on this page. If your notice already meets that format, you do not need to rewrite it.

8. Misuse of this process

Do not send a notice or a counter-notice that you know to be false. Anyone who knowingly makes a false claim may be liable for the loss it causes. We may disregard notices that are clearly abusive, and we may close the account of a user who files a false counter-notice.

Before you send a notice, consider whether the law allows the use, for example as quotation, criticism or parody.

9. Other rights

For a complaint about another right, such as a trade mark in a track title or in cover art, use the same contact. Tell us the right you rely on and the track concerned.
