How it works

This is the lyrics path of add vocals to a beat, with the Rap voice, which asks for a confident, rhythmic delivery with clear diction. Lyro asks the model for a performance of your lyrics at exactly your beat’s tempo and key, over music it generates for the purpose, then separates the voice and returns only that. Your beat’s tempo and key are used; the beat itself is not sent to the music model.

Because the flow was performed over drums at your tempo, it sits in time with your beat. The model did not hear your exact drum pattern or where your first bar starts, though, so expect to slide the vocal into place and sometimes to move a phrase. AI vocals off beat? covers every fix.

Lyro High is the default; Lyro Extra is the second choice, made for English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.

Write bars that land

• Write the whole verse and the hook. With only four lines or so, the model adds lines of its own; with a full verse and a chorus, you hear your words.
• Keep the bars of a verse to a similar syllable count. A bar much longer than its neighbours gets rushed or spills into the next one. The syllable counter shows the count per line.
• Faster tempos leave less time per bar, so short, punchy lines are safer than long ones.
• Spell slang, names and abbreviations the way they sound, and write numbers out as words.
• Tag the hook [Chorus] and keep it word for word the same each time. Repeated blocks come out more consistent.

What it will and will not do

• You choose a delivery, not a rapper. Lyro has no voice cloning, and you cannot name a real artist as the style. Describe the delivery instead: laid-back, aggressive, melodic, clipped.
• You cannot hand it a flow to copy note for note. If you have the flow in your head, record it yourself and mix your take with the beat in the studio.
• Very fast, dense verses can blur words. Shorter lines and a second take help.
• The isolated vocal comes from stem separation, so it can carry faint traces of the drums it was performed over.
• We have not run a listening test for rap. Our one blind test covered Turkish songs, so judge the flow by ear on your first tries.

A rap vocal over your beat costs the performance, 4 credits on Lyro High (5 credits on Lyro Extra), plus the separation, one credit plus two per started minute: 7 credits in all on Lyro High for a beat of up to a minute and 11 credits for three minutes. Bringing your own beat and the studio are on every plan, from $9 a month for 20 credits. A new account can try it once for $1, without a subscription, on the first 60 seconds of its own file. If a generation fails, every credit for it comes back automatically.

You need the rights to the beat you upload; if you leased it, your lease decides what you may release. Every paid plan includes a commercial licence for the generated vocal, and downloads carry an ID3 tag declaring them AI-generated. See music rights.
