Cancellation and refunds

Last updated 5 November 2026

  • You can cancel at any time inside the app, in Settings > Billing, in two clicks. Your plan then runs to the end of the period you paid for.
  • You can pause a plan for up to 3 months instead. A paused plan costs nothing.
  • Consumers in the UK and the EU can cancel a new plan, an upgrade or a top-up credit pack within 14 days for a full refund, as long as no credit from it has been used.
  • Once a credit is used, the purchase is not refundable. This is the same for monthly and yearly plans and for discounted prices, first-month prices included.
  • After 14 days there are no refunds. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
  • Failed generations return their credits automatically.
  • A gift song can be cancelled within 14 days for a full refund until its first version is made.
  • Nothing here reduces your legal rights.

This summary is a guide and is not legally binding wording.

1. Cancelling your plan

You can cancel at any time inside the app. Go to Settings > Billing, choose "Cancel plan" and then the button that cancels now. That is two clicks, and you do not need to call or email us. On the way, we ask one optional question about why you are leaving and may show up to two offers: a pause, a move to Starter or some bonus credits, and, once per account, a year at 70% off. Every screen has a button that cancels straight away, so you can skip the question and the offers. None of them delays the cancellation. We confirm it by email.

Cancelling stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the billing period you have paid for. Until then you keep your plan and your credits, and you can undo the cancellation in Settings > Billing. After that:

  • unused plan credits are removed;
  • top-up credits stay. They never expire, and you can still spend them, with the features of the Starter plan;
  • your library is kept while your account is active, which means while it has a plan or unused top-up credits. When it is no longer active, we keep the library for 30 more days, remind you by email and in the app 30, 7 and 1 days before the deletion date, and then delete your tracks and projects. Downloads are never capped, so you can save everything first. Section 10 of the terms has the detail.

We do not refund the rest of a billing period when you cancel, unless a section below or the law says otherwise. Deleting your account also ends any paid plan, at the same moment, and the same rule on refunds applies. So if you want to use the time you have paid for, cancel the plan and delete the account after the period ends.

2. Pausing or changing your plan instead

If you want a break, you can pause a plan for 1 to 3 months in Settings > Billing. While it is paused we do not charge you and you get no new credits. Your library stays as it is. The plan carries on by itself when the pause ends, and we take the next payment on your first renewal date after that. You can end a pause early, or cancel, at any time.

You can also move to a smaller plan. That takes effect at your next renewal, and the credits you already have stay. If you move to a bigger plan, we charge the difference between the two plans' prices straight away, add the extra credits at once, and your renewal date stays the same. Section 6 covers refunds for upgrades.

3. Your 14-day right to cancel

If you are a consumer in the UK or the European Union, you can cancel an online purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. In the UK this comes from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

The 14 days start on the day after you buy. The right applies to the first payment for a plan, monthly or yearly, to each move up to a bigger plan and to each top-up credit pack, as long as no credit from that purchase has been used (section 5). A renewal does not start a new 14-day period, unless the law where you live says otherwise. You meet the deadline if you send your message before the 14 days end.

A gift song (section 5a of the terms) is digital content made for you as soon as it is sung: you can cancel it within 14 days for a full refund until the first version has been made, and after that it is not refundable. If a version fails, it does not count against the versions you paid for, and if none of them can be made, we refund the gift in full. The year of songs offered right after a gift follows the rule for plans in section 5 below: a full refund within 14 days if none of its credits has been used.

The yearly plan that the app may offer you after a purchase (section 4 of the terms) follows the same rule as any purchase: if you have used no credit since you switched, you can cancel it within 14 days and we refund in full what the switch charged; once you have used a credit since the switch, it is not refundable. The same holds for a yearly plan bought at checkout (the year) and for the move from yearly Starter to Creator yearly (what that move charged).

4. If you have used no credits

We refund the full price. The plan ends when we process the cancellation.

5. If you have used a credit

We do not refund the purchase. Lyro starts the moment you pay, and each credit you use supplies digital content you asked for. Before checkout you ask us to start by pressing a button labelled “Agree and …” that sits right under these words:

I want Lyro to start my subscription immediately. I understand that once I use a credit, I lose my 14-day right to cancel and no refund is due.

Your order confirmation email repeats this. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, when you ask for digital content straight away and acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel, that right ends once supply begins. For Lyro, supply begins when you use your first credit from the purchase.

  • This is the same for monthly and yearly plans. A yearly plan is not refunded once a credit has been used, including the unused months.
  • It is the same for discounted prices, including first-month prices.
  • Credits that came back to you from a failed generation do not count as used.

You keep the tracks you made and the licence to them. You can cancel at any time to stop the next renewal, and you keep the plan and its credits until the end of the period you paid for (section 1).

6. Plan upgrades

Moving up to a bigger plan starts at once: we charge the price difference for the rest of the billing period and add the extra credits straight away. Before we do, you press “Agree and change plan” under words that ask us to do exactly that and say you understand that once you use an extra credit, you lose the right to cancel the upgrade and no refund is due.

You can cancel an upgrade within 14 days of making it for a full refund of the upgrade charge, as long as none of the extra credits has been used. We count the credits you had before the upgrade as used first, so the extra credits count as used only when those have run out. We then remove the extra credits and move you back to the plan you had before. Cancelling an upgrade does not cancel your plan.

7. Top-up credit packs

The same 14-day rules apply to a top-up credit pack. Top-up credits are added as soon as your payment succeeds, and before you pay you press “Agree and continue to checkout” under the same words, worded for the top-up. If you cancel within 14 days and none of the pack's credits have been used, we refund the full price. Once one of them has been used, the pack is not refundable.

Lyro spends plan credits first, so top-up credits are touched only when your plan credits have run out. Top-up credits never expire, and they stay usable after a plan ends. They cost more per credit than plan credits. After the 14 days a pack is not refundable, except where the law says otherwise. If we close your account for a reason other than a serious breach of the terms, we refund unused top-up credits at the price you paid.

8. How to ask for a refund

Tell us clearly that you want to cancel and be refunded. Contact us through the contact form or hello@lyromusic.com. You can also write to RNIFY Limited at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. You may use the model form below, but you do not have to. Include the email address on your Lyro account, so that we can find the purchase. We will confirm that we have received your message.

We refund to the payment method you used, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the day you told us. We charge no fee for a refund. Your bank may take a few days to show it. If you paid in your own currency at checkout, the refund is paid in that currency at the exchange rate of your payment, so a full refund gives back exactly the amount you paid. If you paid in US dollars from an account in another currency, your bank converts the refund, so the amount in your own currency can differ slightly from the original charge.

8a. Purchases made in the iPhone app

Plans and credits bought inside the Lyro app for iPhone are sold and billed by Apple, so Apple decides refunds for them under its own policies. Ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or from your purchase history in the App Store. We cannot refund an App Store payment ourselves, but you can still write to us through the contact form or hello@lyromusic.com and we will help. When Apple refunds a purchase, we remove the credits or the plan it paid for. To stop a plan renewing, turn off auto-renewal in your iPhone's Settings, under your name and then Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends.

9. Model cancellation form

Copy this text into a message or a letter, and fill it in only if you want to cancel within the 14 days.

10. Failed generations

If a generation fails, every credit it took comes back automatically, to the balance it came from. This happens when the model provider rejects the request, returns an error or does not finish in time. If the generation was the first step of a longer job, the credits you paid in advance for the later steps come back as well. You do not need to ask. You see a notice in the app, and the refund appears as a line in your credit history in Settings > Billing.

A track you do not like is not a failed generation, because credits pay for the generation and not for a particular result. If a file is faulty, for example silent, cut short or unplayable, contact us and we will return the credits or run it again.

These are refunds of credits. Refunds of money follow the other sections of this page.

11. If something is wrong with Lyro

Tell us, and we will put it right. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If Lyro falls short, we will fix the problem, run the generation again or return the credits. Where that is not possible, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund.

12. Chargebacks

If you see a charge that you do not recognise or do not agree with, contact us first. We can usually sort it out faster than a bank can.

A chargeback is a dispute that you raise through your bank or card issuer. If you open one, we may suspend the account while the bank looks into it. If a chargeback is made for a charge that was valid, we may close the account. Nothing here limits your right to dispute a charge with your bank.

Nothing on this page reduces your statutory rights. If you live outside the UK, you also keep the mandatory consumer protections of your own country. In the UK, Citizens Advice gives free advice on consumer rights.
