How to write an AI music prompt that worksSix rules
- Name the genre and the tempoA number beats an adjective. “Afro house, 122 BPM” tells a model more than “upbeat African dance music”.
- Describe the drums and the bass firstRhythm is the identity of most genres. Say what the kick does, how the hats move and what the bass sounds like.
- Pick three or four instruments, not tenModels blur when asked for everything. A short list gets you a clearer arrangement.
- Say who is singing and in which languageVoice type, delivery and language, stated plainly. Repeat the language if pronunciation matters.
- Describe the room and the mixWords such as intimate, wide, warm, dry or club-ready change the result more than mood words do.
- Leave artists outDescribe the sound instead of naming a performer. It is more precise, and most tools block names anyway.

Questions
Does this prompt generator use AI?
No. It assembles a prompt from rules written by producers, so it is instant, free and private: nothing you pick leaves your browser. Inside Lyro there is an AI version that writes three takes from a sentence and drafts lyrics in twelve languages.
Will these prompts work in Suno or Udio?
Yes. They are plain English descriptions of a sound, which is what every text-to-music model reads. If the tool you use has a small style box, copy the short version.
Why include the BPM and key?
Tempo is the strongest single signal of genre, and a stated key keeps harmony consistent. Some models follow them exactly, others treat them as a strong hint. On Lyro, ACE-Step locks to the exact tempo and key, which matters when the track has to sit on your own vocal or beat.
Can I put lyrics in the prompt?
Keep them separate. The prompt describes the sound; lyrics go in the lyrics box with section tags such as [Verse] and [Chorus]. Mixing the two makes models sing your instructions.
How long should a music prompt be?
Forty to seventy words is the sweet spot for most models: enough for rhythm, harmony, voice and mix, short enough that nothing is ignored.
