# Techno AI music prompts

Techno is repetitive, rhythm-led club music at 125 to 150 BPM (beats per minute). A heavy four-on-the-floor kick (a kick drum on every beat) and a rumbling low end drive it, with offbeat hi-hats, metallic percussion and a short synth loop that barely changes. Interest comes from slow filter movement and from layers entering and leaving, not from chords or melody.

A prompt should name the tempo, the kick and rumble, the percussion, one looping synth element, how tension builds and a raw, powerful mix.

## How to prompt it

### Arrangement

Techno is built in blocks of 16 or 32 bars. A kick-led intro gives the DJ room to mix, then hats, percussion and the main loop enter one at a time. Breakdowns are short, often only a filtered kick or a few bars without it, and the return of the full kick is the payoff. The track ends by removing layers in reverse order.

### Vocals

Techno is mostly instrumental. When voices appear they are fragments: a spoken phrase, a whispered word, a processed shout or a looped syllable used as percussion, often drenched in delay. Ask for short spoken or processed vocal fragments if you want them. For none, write: instrumental only, no vocals.

### Tips

- Describe the kick and the low end first, for example "heavy kick with a rumbling sub", since they carry the track.
- Ask for one hypnotic looping element, such as a synth stab, a bleep sequence or an acid line, and let it evolve through filtering.
- Use movement words like slow filter opening, rising resonance and tension builds in place of melody descriptions.
- Name the sub-style, such as hypnotic, dub, acid, industrial or Detroit-flavoured, because they differ a lot.
- Request a raw, dark, powerful mix and mention the warehouse or club setting.

### Common mistakes

- Asking for chord progressions and a catchy lead turns the result into trance or melodic house.
- Requesting a big EDM drop with a long silence before it goes against the continuous flow of the genre.
- Adding pop vocals pulls focus from the groove, and the track stops working as techno.
