# Latin pop AI music prompts

Latin pop combines pop songwriting with Latin American and Spanish rhythms, most often at 90 to 130 BPM (beats per minute). Nylon-string guitar, piano montuno (a syncopated repeating piano pattern from Cuban music), congas, timbales and handclaps sit over a moving bassline, under a passionate melodic vocal with a catchy chorus and backing chants.

A prompt should name the tempo, the rhythm family such as salsa, bachata, cumbia or flamenco, the percussion, the guitar or piano, the vocal and language, and a glossy mix.

## How to prompt it

### Arrangement

Latin pop uses pop form: intro hook, verse, pre-chorus, chorus. The percussion builds through the song, light in the first verse and full by the chorus. After the second chorus there is often a breakdown with percussion and chants, a guitar or brass solo, or a call-and-response section borrowed from salsa, before a final chorus with ad-libs over the top.

### Vocals

Latin pop vocals are passionate and melodic, with clear, open vowels, wide vibrato on held notes and backing chants or call and response in the chorus. Duets are common. - Writing only "Latin music" blends unrelated traditions into a generic tropical track.
- Asking for the dembow beat moves the song into reggaeton, which has its own page.
- Leaving out the language usually produces English vocals over Latin instruments.
