# How to make a viral TikTok song with AI: a hook-first method

No method guarantees a viral song, and we cannot promise one. What you control is the hook. Build a 15 to 30 second section around one line people can lip-sync or dance to, pick a tempo that fits the movement, generate five variations, test them with real viewers, and master the winner so it is loud and clear on a phone. Label it as AI-generated: TikTok requires labels on realistic AI-generated content.

## What is known and what is not

Nobody can promise virality, including us. The verified evidence says AI songs can reach large audiences, and that most never do.

- The Velvet Sundown passed 1.4 million monthly Spotify listeners before it confirmed that it was made with AI ([Berklee, 22 Jul 2025](https://www.berklee.edu/berklee-now/news/velvet-sundown-ai-band-controversy)).

- “Papaoutai (Afro Soul)”, an AI-assisted track, had 210.7 million streams in the first half of 2026 ([Luminate Midyear Report 2026](https://luminatedata.com/blog/luminate-2026-midyear-report-trends-in-music-television-film/)).

- On Deezer, AI music is more than half of daily uploads but only 1 to 3% of streams ([Deezer, 21 Jul 2026](https://newsroom-deezer.com/2026/07/ai-music-exceeds-50-percent-daily-uploads-deezer/)).

We have no verified data on what makes a sound spread on TikTok, so treat this as a working method, not a formula. It gives you more good attempts. The audience decides the rest.

## Start with the hook, not the song

Write the 15 to 30 seconds people will hear before you write anything else. A [hook](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#hook) is the short part of a song that stays in your head. Short videos use a slice of a track, so a slow build is wasted there.

## Choose tempo and genre for the movement

Pick the tempo for what you want people to do on camera. Tempo is the speed of a track in [beats per minute (BPM)](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#bpm). There is no verified best BPM for TikTok, so choose by movement, then test.

## Write one line people can lip-sync or dance to

The line should be short enough to say in one breath and clear enough to mouth along to. Aim for four to eight everyday words with a strong rhythm. A line that names an action can also carry a dance move.

- Say it out loud over a clap. If you stumble, a singer will too.

- Repeat it. One line heard four times is easier to learn than four different lines.

- Leave a gap after it. A beat of silence or a drum fill gives people a place to cut.
