# Do Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube and TikTok allow AI music? (policy tracker)

Yes: as of 21 Sep 2026 none of the five bans music for being made with AI. What they police is labelling and behaviour. Spotify removes voice impersonation, filters spam and keeps AI Persona profiles out of recommendations, Deezer tags fully AI-generated tracks and leaves them out of recommendations, and Apple Music has AI disclosure tags for labels and distributors. YouTube and TikTok require a label on realistic AI content.

## The tracker

Only platform newsroom, help and policy pages are used, all opened on 21 Sep 2026. The last column gives the source’s own date where it has one.

## Spotify

Spotify separates how music was made from who the artist claims to be. How it was made is your choice, and [disclosure](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#ai-disclosure) through AI credits is optional. Spotify says the credits are not used to down-rank tracks ([Spotify, 25 Sep 2025](https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-09-25/spotify-strengthens-ai-protections/)).

Identity is where the rule tightened. On 11 Aug 2026 Spotify announced the AI Persona badge for profiles that present an AI-generated identity as if it were a person. You can declare it yourself in Spotify for Artists, Spotify can apply it after its own review, and you can appeal. Badged profiles are not recommended unless a listener follows them. Spotify says the badge is about the artist’s public identity, not about how the music was made ([Spotify, 11 Aug 2026](https://newsroom.spotify.com/2026-08-11/ai-persona-badges-transparency/)).

The hard lines are older. A voice that imitates another artist without permission is removed when that artist or a representative files a claim ([Spotify support, impersonation](https://support.spotify.com/artists/article/music-that-impersonates-another-artists-voice)). Spotify says it removed over 75 million spam tracks in the 12 months to September 2025 ([Spotify, 25 Sep 2025](https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-09-25/spotify-strengthens-ai-protections/)).

## Apple Music

Apple publishes the least. We found no public Apple page that sets out an AI music policy. What exists is technical: the specification that labels and distributors follow when they deliver music has an AI transparency tag with four values, Track, Composition, Artwork and Music Video, for cases where AI generated a material portion of the content ([Apple Music Specification 5.3.26](https://help.apple.com/itc/musicspec/en.lproj/static.html)). You cannot set it yourself. Your distributor does.

Music trade press reported in August 2026 that Apple told its partners the tags will become mandatory and will appear to listeners as a Made With AI label later in 2026 ([RouteNote, 21 Aug 2026](https://routenote.com/blog/apple-music-made-with-ai-labels/)). We could not confirm that on an Apple page, so it is not in the table.

## Deezer

Deezer is the most open of the five about what it does to fully AI-generated music. It receives about 90,000 such tracks a day, more than half of its daily uploads, and reports that they make up 1 to 3% of streams because they are excluded from recommendations. It says up to 85% of streams on those tracks in 2025 were fraudulent and were not paid ([Deezer, 21 Jul 2026](https://newsroom-deezer.com/2026/07/ai-music-exceeds-50-percent-daily-uploads-deezer/)).

Deezer also gives its detector’s accuracy as 99.8%, with fewer than 1 false flag in 10,000 human-made tracks. Its figures concern fully generated music. The release does not say how a track that mixes your own recording with generated parts is classified.

## YouTube and TikTok

Both are video platforms, so the rule attaches to the post, and both require a label when AI content is realistic.

YouTube’s page for music partners gives the clearest definitions we found. A track made by typing a prompt into an AI music generator is Fully Gen AI. Recording your own vocal over a generated layer is Partly Gen AI. Pitch correction and AI mastering count as No Gen AI ([YouTube Help, music partners](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/17124251)). If nothing is declared, YouTube may decide from its own signals.

On TikTok, turning on the AI-generated setting does not affect distribution, and using it on unaltered content breaks the terms ([TikTok Support](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/creating-videos/ai-generated-content)).

## Before you upload

- Ask your distributor which AI declarations it passes on to Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, then answer truthfully.

- Do not present a generated persona as a real person. On Spotify that now costs you recommendations.

- Never imitate a real artist’s voice or name.

- Never buy streams. Apple and Deezer both say they act on manipulated plays, and Spotify filters spam.

- Label realistic AI audio on YouTube and TikTok.

### Does Spotify allow AI-generated music?

It removes unauthorised voice impersonation, filters spam, and from mid-September 2026 leaves profiles with an AI Persona badge out of recommendations by default.

### Do I have to label AI music on Spotify?

AI credits are optional and are added through your distributor ([Spotify support, AI credits](https://support.spotify.com/us/artists/article/ai-credits/)). The AI Persona badge is different: Spotify can apply it to a profile that presents an AI-generated identity as a person, whether or not you declare it.

### Will Deezer remove my AI track?

It can. On 21 Jul 2026 Deezer said it will take down fully AI-generated tracks that are used for streaming fraud or that nobody has streamed for 6 months. All detected tracks are tagged and left out of recommendations ([Deezer, 21 Jul 2026](https://newsroom-deezer.com/2026/07/ai-music-exceeds-50-percent-daily-uploads-deezer/)).

### Does YouTube demonetise AI music?

Not for being AI. YouTube says disclosing AI content does not affect a video’s eligibility to earn money. What cannot be monetised is mass-produced or repetitive content, however it was made ([YouTube monetisation policies, 15 Jul 2025](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1311392)).

### Does Apple Music ban AI music?

We found no Apple page that says so.
