No lyrics are needed. - **Lock the tempo and key if you need to** Set a BPM and a key and switch on the tempo lock when the beat has to line up with a vocal, a video edit or a DJ set. - **Generate and take it further** Download the beat, split it into drums, bass and other stems, or add a vocal to it in the studio. ## The details ### How the model is chosen There are two routes, and the tempo lock decides between them. - **Tempo-locked beats** go to ACE-Step 1.5, an open model under the Apache-2.0 licence. It takes the BPM and key as settings, not as suggestions in the prompt. It is priced by length: one credit per 30 seconds with the detailed pass, or one credit per minute with the fast pass. The detailed pass is the setting we blind-tested. - **Other instrumentals** go to Google’s Lyria 3 Pro at 4 credits a track, whatever the length. In our small internal blind test it scored 4.43 out of 5 for production, against 3.00 for ACE-Step 1.5. That test used sung Turkish briefs, so treat it as a guide for instrumentals, not proof. More in [How we test AI music models](https://lyromusic.com/learn/how-we-test-ai-music-models). ### What you control - Genre, from house styles such as afro house, deep house and amapiano to trap, drill, reggaeton, lo-fi, techno, rock and cinematic. - [BPM](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#bpm) and [key](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#key), which matter as soon as the beat meets other audio. - Mood, and the instruments you name in the prompt. - Length, which also sets the price on ACE-Step 1.5. Genre words do real work in a prompt. Terms such as [four-on-the-floor](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#four-on-the-floor), [log drum](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#log-drum) and [808](https://lyromusic.com/glossary#808) are understood by the models. The [prompt library](https://lyromusic.com/prompts) has eight prompts to copy for each genre. ### Where the limits are - You get one stereo audio file, not a project with separate drum, bass and synth tracks, and not editable note data, so you cannot move a single note. - The [stem splitter](https://lyromusic.com/features/stem-splitter) can pull drums, bass and other apart afterwards, with some artefacts. - Results vary between generations, so expect to make a few. - The tempo-locked model scored lower on production in our one small test (3.00 against 4.43), so if exact tempo does not matter, start with the default route. - Neither route is always the cheaper one. ACE-Step 1.5 is priced by length: with the detailed pass it costs less than a Lyria 3 Pro track for pieces up to 90 seconds, and more for a full three-minute track (6 credits against 4). ### Formats, credits and rights MP3 and FLAC downloads are included on every plan and are never counted or capped. WAV export, stems and the mixer come with Creator. Failed generations are refunded in credits automatically. Every paid plan includes a commercial licence, so you can use a beat in a release, a video or an advert. We do not warrant that an output is original or non-infringing, and we do not promise copyright protection for AI-generated audio. Downloads carry an ID3 tag declaring them AI-generated. A tempo-locked beat on ACE-Step 1.5 is priced by length: one credit per 30 seconds with the detailed pass, or one credit per minute with the fast pass. A one-minute beat is 2 credits with the detailed pass or 1 credit with the fast pass, and a three-minute beat is 6 or 3. An instrumental on Lyria 3 Pro costs 4 credits whatever its length. On the tempo-locked route, yes: ACE-Step 1.5 takes the BPM and key as settings. You can confirm any file with the free [BPM and key finder](https://lyromusic.com/tools/bpm-key-finder). Without the lock, the tempo in your prompt is followed approximately. ### Can I get the drums and bass as separate files? Yes, on the Creator plan. The stem splitter separates the beat into drums, bass and other. It costs one credit plus two per started minute, so 7 credits for a three-minute beat. Separation is an estimate, so expect small artefacts, mostly in the high frequencies. ### Can I add a vocal to the beat later? Yes.
