# Lyro vs Suno: an honest comparison (2026)

Suno is the larger and cheaper product: 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue ([TechCrunch, 27 Feb 2026](https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/27/ai-music-generator-suno-hits-2-million-paid-subscribers-and-300m-in-annual-recurring-revenue/)), a free plan, and about $0.02 a song on its Pro plan ([Suno plan guide, 31 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/hub/ai-music-software)). Both products take your own audio, and both have tools for working on a track afterwards. Lyro’s differences are narrower. Downloads are never counted, while Suno limits them by plan from 3 Sep 2026 ([Suno blog, 10 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/blog/suno-updates-tos)). The mixer and mastering on Creator use no credits. And Lyro chose its model for sung lyrics with a small Turkish pronunciation test. Lyro has no free plan and costs more per song.

## Where Suno is stronger

Suno is ahead on scale, on having a free plan, on price per song, and on what its cheaper plans include. If those matter most to you, choose Suno.

- **Scale.** Suno reported 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue ([TechCrunch, 27 Feb 2026](https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/27/ai-music-generator-suno-hits-2-million-paid-subscribers-and-300m-in-annual-recurring-revenue/)). Lyro is new and publishes no user numbers. A product of that size has been tried by far more people on far more kinds of song.

- **Community.** A user base that large means more people sharing songs, prompts and advice. Lyro has no public feed, and its share links are unlisted.

- **A free plan.** Suno has a Free plan with 50 credits a day ([Suno pricing page, checked 21 Sep 2026](https://suno.com/pricing)). Free accounts opened before 3 Sep 2026 have up to 7 trial downloads in total, and newer free accounts may occasionally receive trial downloads ([Suno blog, 10 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/blog/suno-updates-tos)). Lyro has no free plan, because every generation costs us money at a model provider.

- **Price per song.** Suno is cheaper per song. Pro costs $10 a month for 2,500 credits, which Suno describes as roughly 500 songs: about $0.02 a song ([Suno plan guide, 31 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/hub/ai-music-software)). A Lyria 3 Pro song on Lyro costs about $0.27 on Starter and $0.25 on Creator. One reason is that Lyro pays outside model providers for every generation.

- **Your own audio and stems on cheaper plans.** Suno lists audio upload on every plan, and adding a vocal or an instrumental to a song and stem separation from Pro, $10 a month ([Suno pricing page, checked 21 Sep 2026](https://suno.com/pricing)). On Lyro, starting from your own vocal or beat and the stem splitter need Creator, from $19 a month.

- **One integrated product.** Lyro rents its models from other companies. Suno runs its own: its pricing page lists v6-mini on Free and v6 and v6-wild on paid plans ([Suno pricing page, checked 21 Sep 2026](https://suno.com/pricing)). When one company builds the model and the app together, features can be designed around that model and the sound is consistent. Lyro’s results vary with the model a request is routed to.

- **Mobile apps.** Lyro runs in the browser on phones and computers and has no native app. Suno’s help centre links to iOS and Android apps ([Suno help centre, checked 21 Sep 2026](https://help.suno.com/en/articles/13614785)).

## Where Lyro is different

In fewer places than it may look. Suno’s pricing page lists audio upload on every plan, adding a vocal or an instrumental to a song on paid plans, stem separation on Pro and Premier, and Suno Studio on Premier ([Suno pricing page, checked 21 Sep 2026](https://suno.com/pricing)). So starting from your own audio, stems and a studio are not differences. These are:

- **Downloads are not counted.** Your plan limits how much you generate, never how much you download. From 3 Sep 2026 Suno limits downloads to 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier, including songs created earlier, with extra downloads for sale. Premier subscribers who use Suno Studio have no download limit there. Free accounts opened before 3 Sep 2026 have up to 7 trial downloads in total, and newer free accounts may occasionally receive trial downloads ([Suno blog, 10 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/blog/suno-updates-tos)).

- **What Lyro does with your audio.** On Creator, Lyro detects the tempo and key of your upload in the browser. From a vocal it writes a [beat around it](https://lyromusic.com/features/add-beat-to-vocals). From a beat it returns a [vocal at the beat’s tempo and key](https://lyromusic.com/features/add-vocals-to-beat) as an isolated stem, so your beat stays as you made it. We have not compared this with Suno’s own tools for adding a vocal or an instrumental.

- **A mixer and mastering that use no credits.** On Creator, the multitrack mixer and [mastering to a loudness target](https://lyromusic.com/features/mixing-mastering) run in your browser and cost no credits. Suno Studio is part of Premier, at $30 a month ([Suno plan guide, 31 Aug 2026](https://suno.com/hub/ai-music-software)). We have not compared the two.

- **Two models, chosen by the job, and a Turkish test.** Lyro sends sung lyrics to Google Lyria 3 Pro, and vocal chops and tempo-locked beats to ACE-Step 1.5. The routing comes from one internal blind test on 21 Sep 2026, in which Lyria 3 Pro scored 4.67 out of 5 for Turkish pronunciation. ## Which should you pick

Pick by what you will do with the song after it is generated.

## What this page does not claim

We make no claim about which product sounds better. Our blind test covered three models that Lyro can offer, and Suno was not one of them. Sound quality also depends on taste and genre, so run the same prompt and lyrics through both and listen.
